Q: Can I legally find a Social Security Number?

A: Yes, using basic information about the subject you will be able to identify an individuals SSN. The information you need to obtain this data includes the subjects name, approximate age and last known street address.

Q: Will my search be private/confidential?

A: Yes, it is. Our system is secure and the subject of the search will never know that their social is being requested.

Q:  What are permissible reasons to find a social security number?

A: There are many permissible reasons to conduct a SSN search. They are:

  • Situations involving identity theft and the social security number is required for your investigation.

  • Situations involving fraud investigations and the social security number is required for your investigation.

  • Situations involving official government business and the social security number is required for your investigation.

  • Civil or criminal litigation  and the social security number is required for your case.

  • Required for an employer 1099 or other tax documents as required by the Internal Revenue Service.

  • Requested by a court to determine if an individual is active military.

  • Required for child support collection efforts, debt collection, judgment collection, and wage garnishment.

 

Q: I don’t remember my SSN.  Can you find my own Social Security Number?

A: No. This is not a permissible purpose.  Additionally, we cannot find a SSN of a minor child. You will need to contact the Social Security Administration.

Q: Can I obtain or verify the Social Security Number of a prospective employee?

A: No. Any new employee must furnish their SSN. The Social Security Administration will verify this SSN for no charge at https://www.ssa.gov/employer/verifySSN.htm.

Q: What happens after I submit my order to IntelHawk?

Their purpose is to validate your permissible purpose to ensure the SSN is being obtained for appropriate and legal reasons. IntelHawk strives to protect individuals' personal information and takes data security very seriously. 

Q: What documentation is required for me to obtain a SSN?
A: Every case is different. You may be asked to provide an image of your driver's license, proof of residence, official court documents, etc. It depends on your permissible purpose. This is to ensure that we are not erroneously giving out SSNs and allowing them to fall into the wrong hands.
